Michelle Plucinsky
Each piece begins in a place deeply connected to the fundamental elements of nature. Fire, water and sunlight serve as the foundation on which she builds. “I’m very connected to nature,” she said. “I want to bring those qualities to my work.” From these beginnings spring designs that capture the full and sensuous qualities of the natural world: Grapes ripened on the vine and glowing in the glass; spinning disks of color and light, like paint from the master’s brush conjuring wheat fields and starry nights; the delicate pulsing bodies of undersea creatures. Michelle’s work thrives in color and light. Remarkably, the seemingly spontaneous nature of the work is actually born out of a rigorous design process. “When I sit down at the bench, it is pure joy. The hard part has already been done. Now I get to create,” she said.
